Legion, in which "[w]hen God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany)."

LOL WHAT IS THIS MOVIE IT LOOKS TERRIBLE

I haven't seen a Biblical apocalyptic movie this over the top and unlikely since Constantine

I CAN DIG THAT

Not that I can figure out why the hell the Archangel Michael would be on the humans' side but WHO CARES Paul Bettany's in it as a fricken archangel of course I'm watching this.

holy shit the G.I. Joe movie was kind of good

it was definitely way better than the resounding meh of the Wooberine Wolverine movie, and it was helluva lot less offensive (and just generally more watchable) than Transformers 2.

yes alright there was some hamfisting and unfortunate scene transitions (and - I dunno how this was possible in a movie like this - just a tiny bit of unconvincing CGI) but I mean. It's G.I. JOE. At least it doesn't try to be anything it's not (i.e. Transformers: A Hormonal and Awkward Teenage High School Romance, with Robots), and doesn't take itself very seriously. It's true to the source material! It's a somewhat cheesycool action flick about super suped up special ops guys fighting with ballistics and testosterone and sexy technology against super suped up global terrorists! It was loud and fun and over the top and had one of the most awesome high-speed chases everrrrr.

My biggest beef though, is. Baroness, while being one of my favorites in the movie and generally badass, is frustratingly compromised. I like my Baroness bitchin! Wicked! Ruthless! I don't like her emotionally softened! Why must there always be main hero/main villain love interest!! Bahhhh. And Destro/McCullen is creepy-looking and dweeb-like and has an overly thick Scottish accent that is in no way in the same universe as cool and badass.

EH WELL Joseph Gordon-Levitt was hot and so was Sienna Miller I got what I came for 8D oh also the hot Asian man who played Storm Shadow was UNFFF. I feel sorry for Daniel Henney now. He was seriously ripped off in Wolverine. :/

No srsly guys any of you who's seen Transformers 2 should go see G.I. Joe for your money back. Or at least any of you who's seen Wolverine, cuz yeah.

Finally, after getting cockblocked all weekend (scheduled to see it on Sat. 8:30 show sold out. Rescheduled for Sun. Parents realized their flight was that day, not the day after, had to cancel so I could drive them to SFO) I finally saw Star Trek!! Man oh man it's been so long since I watched a hardcore IN SPACE!!! WITH SPACESHIPS!!! sci-fi film. It was exciting! Humorous! Deliciously well-written! Well-acted! 99.999999% of it was awesome!! And it bothers me that there's 0.00000001% that bothers me OH WELL good movies have ruined me forever what else is new.

Everyone was hooottttt. It disturbed me greatly that I would find Spock attractive, but it helped that he was clean-shaven, stoic, had sweet eyebrows, and wasn't a head-opening psycho killer. And holy shit never once when I watched Heroes did I realize Zachary Quinto's legs are like MILES LONG. Oh man I couldn't stop staring at his legs and and whenever Spock comes into the frame it's like helloooo shoulders.

And whooa hi there Cameron, and McCoy ahh big brother so adorable and Harold Sulu and HEHE widdle Chekov and SCOTTYYYYYYY

I badly want to ship Sulu/Chekov cuz they're both adorabibble but the movie didn't throw me enough gay to slash anyone :'C

Stolen from [info]evanae. Really more like a checklist for me than anything.

- X what you saw
- O what you haven't finished/saw sizable portions
- Bold what you loved
- Italics for what you disliked/hated
- Leave unchanged if neutral

also if there's anything animated you've seen that isn't on this list feel free to put it on o/ (I have super obscure/old stuff from my childhood in Japan that I probably will never find the DVD for SOBBB)

LONG LIST IS LONG )

Ok it isn't gay (or at least it isn't supposed to be) but it definitely began to appear so toward the end the movie and if anything it was at least fabulous. At a neighborhood video rental store's closing down sale I bought Onmyoji (amongst 6 other movies orz) and watched it yesterday with my friend Mi-ne and her husband. We started out respectfully watching the unfurling of a supernatural conspiracy in the royal courts during the Heian period, and by the end we were squealing in Japanese like the depraved yaoi fangirls we are over the wonderfully gaytastic dialog between the onmyoji and his court official friend. I did NOT know about this when I bought the DVD. And even though by 1/3 through the movie I was already slashing Seimei with Hiromasa, I didn't think the gay would manifest in the SCRIPT later on. Mi-ne and I were giddy and delirious and convulsing hysterically, while her husband and other guy housemate watched our throes in profound horror.

Oh god I need to watch this movie again AND THEN get Onmyoji 2 because I can't resist Heian court gentlemen in their ridiculously excessive clothing and cumbersome robes and impeccable courtesy and repressed secretive sex lives. I've always liked period yaoi. You'd have to make do with so little and be so painfully chaste outside your private quarters and learn to simply enjoy the other's company. The repression and constraints make it so much more meaningful.

THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY USELESS POST.

I AM SO HOT FOR TONY STARK

I WANT TO BEAR HIM A MILLION CHILDREN

So Batman totally just lost his top spot as Badassest Comicbook Superhero.

Honestly, 2-hour-6-minute boner. I usually don't care for facial hair or older men, but damn, ROBERT DOWNEY JR. UNNNFFFFFFF

OH, OH FOOTAGE AFTER CREDITS MADE ME SOOO EXCITED!!!!!

Oh and also Orichalcum is DONE. Set the pages, made the PDF, sent it to Lulu.com. THIS IS SO SURREAL I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ACTUALLY DONE. WHAT WILL I DO WITH MYSELF??

I'll begin by sleeping 50 hours. PLEASE LET ME HAVE WET DREAMS ABOUT TONY STARK TONIGHT-- though I'll probably be too tired and deep in sleep, since yesterday was my 3rd all-nighter in the same week...

MANY THINGS MADE ME CRY THIS WEEKEND.

1) Code Geass; IT'S CLAMP WITH MECHA, it isn't SUPPOSED to make me CRY but it DID.

2) Letters from Iwo Jima; I spent half the movie crying, and if I weren't seeing it in a theater I would've been BAWLING.

3) Hana Yori Dango Season 2; the season has JUST STARTED and it's ALREADY MAKING ME CRY. THAT'S NOT RIGHT.

Thankfully though there was also a lot of laughing in HYD2, so that's good. And Letters from Iwo Jima has got to be the most perfect war movie I've ever seen. If you liked Flags of Our Fathers, you'll like this even more. According to the reviews anyway. I haven't seen Flags, but I plan to. Clint Eastwood is an amazing director.

And. NINOMIYA KAZUNARI. Yes, him. That boy from ARASHI, the BOYBAND. He's in Letters, and MAN, CAN HE ACT. I was a bit dubious at first, and in the beginning he was slightly awkward, but he quickly became such a convincing actor. First MatsuJun, and now Nino. Sakurai's in Honey & Clover, but I haven't seen that yet. Though Nino's probably the most skilled actor of all of them. GOD, WHY ARE THE JAPANESE SO TALENTED.

It's only the 2nd week of school, and I've already decided that I don't like it. .__. What's more, I'm feeling iffy about 2 of the 3 art classes, and I'm liking the lecture classes. I probably like the lecture classes cuz all I have to do is sit back and take notes. A little intense, yes, but I get spoonfed and I don't have to give any output. :D Taking notes and studying them is straightforward. Studying visual concepts and practicing them in art a little less.

More talk about classes blahblahboring )

Saw Chronicles of Narnia with Nicole, Mike and Zack. With my hat on Nicole thought I was a guy when she came down the stairs of the Business Building to meet us. ~__~ Anyway, Nicole hit it off w/ Mike and Zack (whom she didn't know before) pretty well. The accidental seating arrangement (Nicole, Zack, me, Mike) in the theater worked out really well. XD

And I can't even begin to describe my Narnia experience. But I will try. )

And the music still grips me with awesomeness even after like the 10th listen. So good. Oh god someone already has the .avi available on college WASTE. I need to see this again. *___* Will dl and buy it when the DVD gets out.

I'm too high on Narnia to wanna do anything else now. Dammit.

First off, sorry Yun ^^;; It was decided in the spur of the moment last-minute today between my friend and I, so... sorry! >_<;

But yeah. *WEEPTH* I want Brokeback icons. RIGHT NOW. The soundtrack too. Shitdaurh.

short movie ramble under here, beware of spoilers )

Now I wanna reread the online short story, which, for some reason, is now nowhere to be found >__<;; Did they take it off now that it's finally hit the silver screen? Those bastards!! *considers ordering the book*

Just got back from Serenity, the Firefly movie. ROXXORRZ MY BOXXORZ. What was not so roxxor was the fact that Amanda and I had to trek half an hour in our not-so-walk-friendly shoes from our place to downtown. When Tyler had said on the phone that it took he and Tad, relatively quick walkers, half an hour to get to the theater, I hadn't believed him. Also, the trekking wouldn't've been so bad if we weren't in such a damn hurry. And still we got there 5 minutes late. Missed the backstory of how Simon got River out from the Alliance institution. Dammit.

I'll ramble more about this in detail when I'm in better form. Some other time that isn't 3am, and isn't the aftermath of Roommate Drama. YES. ANOTHER YEAR OF ALL NEW, ALL RIVETING ROOMMATE DRAMA! STAY TUNED. There will be a report on that too, probably in the morning.

To-Dos:

- a nice scrub, to get make-up off
- laundry; all whites, don't forget the towels
- read, finish book
- The Talk - The 3 Of Us
- The Talk - All Residents
- go to Anime Club

Watched Alexander with Meg today. I chose that over Madagascar cuz Alexander was a flop, so we could mock it in jolly humor as we watched, as well as enjoy the slash, which I heard was present in the movie. XD

Turns out I quite liked it. *lol* Maybe it's the yaoi fangirl talking. XDDD But it was intense, and quite beautiful in some parts, I thought. Didn't give a really detailed insight to Alexander's life, but I thought it was fine. Alexander and Hephaistion's relationship was lovely and portrayed very tenderly. ;__; Just wish there was a little bit more of that. THERE WASN'T ENOUGH SLASH DAMMIT. ALEXANDER KISSED HEPHAISTION ONCE DURING THE BLOODY MOVIE AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE IT. And the eye candy was like, excessive. Omg. Collin Farrell, Jared Leto, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. And that delicious Persian slave boy whose actor I don't know. *SALIVATE*

Aaanyway. I'm sad that The Theban Band didn't have more than a meager few Alexander fanarts. *sniff* So I went and doused my new curiosity by reading online texts about Alexander and sexuality in Ancient Greece and so on. And that somehow inspired this fanart. No, it's not Alexander fanart, unforch. >3> *not sure if to venture into that* Still the same ol' HP shiznit. *snrk*

I've decided, fuck the grey Copic. I'll do my greys in... inkwash. Or something. Not forking another 6 bucks for another damn Copic for a long, long time. *mutter*

OH MY GOD. THE 0___PEDOPHILE TWAT DEFRIENDED ME. *CHEERS*

Considering that he defriended Akko too, I think he's finally been booted from LJ. BLESS.

And, Red Eye was EXCELLENT. The plot was introduced quite early into the movie, in fact, the movie really didn't leave much to the imagination *lol* considering how it suggests Something Bad And Imminent from as early as the beginning credits. But I like how it started kinda slow, leisurely, with some comfortable flirting between Lisa (Rachel McAdams) and Rippner (Cillian Murphy). You see Lisa begin to unwind and shed her mask of courteous tension... and then you're fiercely swung into the thick of the plot as Rippner reveals his motive. So quick it was like whiplash. And from that point on, it's just scene after scene of fast, stomach-twisting, heart-hammering suspense and action till the very end of the short 85 minutes. Straightforward, short and intense, kinda like being on a plane during its take-off period, from the moment it starts moving on the runway to the moment it leaves the ground.

And Cillian Murphy. The very reason why I went to see this movie. Didn't let me down in the least. XD Excellent performance. Hawt, ruthless and so brilliant. A somewhat comprehensive rant on him can be found in this AIM convo with Meg. )

So seeing this w/ Meg during X'mas. >D And then we can go see The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe together too. *squee!*

If I can stick in a haircut soon, I can cosplay Harry for Halloween. Maybe. Will it be FrillyDressRobes!Ron for GoF, or Triwizard!Harry? I hope I can cosplay at all for GoF. T__T

[EDIT] I'm absolutely delighted to find that Art 211 and Art 302 don't seem to require textbooks. Even if they do, they aren't listed at the online bookstore. Since I already got my Photoshop manual for Art 181, all I need are this for PSC 201 and this for Art 134, both of which I'd probably end up getting from Half.com. *reminder to self to order tmr*
